Spazio Antonioni
An exhibition space dedicated to the famous Ferrarese director Michelangelo Antonioni showcases a selection of the 47 thousand objects, including documents, films and more, that the filmmaker donated to his hometown in the mid-1990s.
Spazio Antonioni - The History
The Spazio Antonioni was created in what were once the stables and coach houses of Palazzo Massari. The building is located in a wonderful urban context in the area of the Massari Park, the largest public green area within the city walls.
Spazio Antonioni - The Visit
The brand new museum dedicated to one of the pioneers of modern cinematography invites the general public and enthusiasts to immerse themselves in Antonioni's intellectual and creative universe. This space is conceived as a living museum, a centre of education and discovery where it is possible to explore the influences and connections between Antonioni and the artists, directors and intellectuals he inspired or from whom he drew inspiration.
The two recently renovated floors of the former Contemporary Art Pavilion in Palazzo Massari house a vast collection of objects and documents acquired by the City of Ferrara directly from Antonioni and Enrica Fico. This archive, consisting of over 47,000 items, is the result of an ambitious research and cataloguing project available at www.archivioantonioni.it.
The exhibits offer a unique insight into the director's aesthetic and intellectual horizon, allowing visitors to delve not only into his cinema but also into his critical, literary and artistic works, including films, posters, original screenplays, stage photographs, drawings, paintings, his library and record collection, the awards he received and his correspondence with some of the 20th century's leading cultural figures.
