Casa Romei is one of Ferrara's jewels: a 15th-century residence that blends medieval and Renaissance elements. Built by the merchant Giovanni Romei and enlarged for his wedding to Polissena d'Este, the residence has gone through centuries of transformations, becoming part of the Corpus Domini convent and later a museum. Within its walls, frescoes, sculptures and decorations from the city's historical buildings are preserved, making it a valuable testimony to Renaissance Ferrara.
After a long period of closure, Casa Romei reopens to the public on an experimental basis, offering a unique opportunity to visit its historical rooms as the restoration work enters its final phase. Although the building site is still active, the museum itinerary has been partially reopened, allowing visitors to discover first-hand the progress of the work and admire some of the most evocative spaces of the 15th-century residence.
This special reopening allows visitors to observe the work in progress of the restoration: the temporary removal of the plasterwork has brought back to light the ancient walls, while the decorations of the loggias, already restored, are revealed in all their beauty. An unmissable opportunity to immerse oneself in the history of one of the most fascinating places in Ferrara, between past and present.
