Parco Pareschi
Pareschi Park is an enchanting English garden, an oasis of peace in the heart of the city centre, just a stone's throw from some of Ferrara's most beautiful places such as Museo Schifanoia, the City Walls and the Casa Romei Museum.
In this unexpected location, which opens up behind the imposing city walls, you can take a moment of respite during your tour of the city. You can stroll among linden trees, horse chestnuts, maples, magnolias, a wonderful cedar of Lebanon and a beautiful specimen of Judas thorn, among many other beautiful trees.
A pleasant space in which to take a break, read a good book or simply take a walk.
Historical Notes
This park is part of the garden of the Palazzo Estense di San Francesco, home in the 16th century to the University's botanical garden. The park takes its name from the Pareschi family, who became owners of the complex in the mid-19th century and remodelled the garden to its current "English" design.
The last owner of the palace, now named after Renata di Francia, was Count Vittorio Cini, who in 1942 donated it to the municipality, which in turn named it the seat of the University in 1963.
